Laurence Pike - 'Introit' video
Published 4 September 2024 by DM

Watch the brand new video for Laurence Pike's 'Introit' single.

Directed by Clemens Habicht, it was filmed during rehearsals for Pike's recent shows in Sydney featuring the VOX Sydney Philharmonia Choir conducted by Elizabeth Scott.

"Clemens has transformed myself and the chorus into painterly and ghostly apparitions, to quite hypnotic effect" Pike explains.

'Introit' is taken from new album The Undreamt-of Centre, which will be released this Friday (September 6th). Pre-order on limited Forest Green vinyl LP, CD and digital.

Malcolm Pardon - 'Side Effects' single
Published 10 September 2024 by DM

Listen to ‘Side Effects’, the third track taken from Malcolm Pardon’s new album The Abyss.

"I was sitting by the piano and had a single note going on repeat with my right hand, like a metronome," Pardon explains. "I wanted to see how I could build something around this note without losing it in the process. Then as the song started to take shape, this note became like the heartbeat of the song. The challenge was to make the chord changes and progression interesting, with this note acting as a guiding light."

The Abyss will be released September 20th. It is available to pre-order/pre-save on limited edition ‘Pool Party’ splatter vinyl LP (350 copies), black vinyl LP, limited CD (500 copies) and digital.

If you can’t wait until September 20th to hear it, Pardon is hosting a Bandcamp Listening Party on September 17th at 8pm BST, where he will guide you through the depths and answer any questions you may have. RSVP here.

Decius - Decius Vol. II (Splendour & Obedience)
Published 18 September 2024 by DM

Decius are back. You should stop what you're doing and watch the video for new single 'Walking In The Heat'. Somewhat NSFW depending on your workplace's policy on soapy leather shorts.

Second full length album Decius Vol. II (Splendour & Obedience) will grace us with its presence on January 31st.

“You ever see that show Civilisation with Kenneth Clarke? It details the arc of western civilisation from the ancient world onwards, up until the ‘60s when the show was made. For me, this has been the principal source of inspiration. The fine grain of suffering that lurks behind every civilised thing. Hence the album's subtitle Splendour & Obedience.”
Meat Divine aka L. Saoudi on Decius Vol. II

Decius Vol. II (Splendour & Obedience) will be released in three double vinyl editions, all in gatefold sleeves with artwork by Peter Harris.

- Black vinyl 2LP
- Limited indies only ‘Neptune Turquoise’ 2LP
- Limited ‘Assarius Copper’ 2LP (300 copies) Rough Trade & Bandcamp exclusive

The album will also be available on CD and digital.

Malcolm Pardon - The Abyss out now
Published 20 September 2024 by DM

Malcolm Pardon's new album, The Abyss, is out now.

Played out on piano with gentle, sometimes ominous electronic accompaniments, Pardon took inspiration from the idea of being submerged under water. The fine threads of synthesis and sound treatments which give the album its distinct character served as an abstract guiding principle which informs the fluid motion of the music.

“I wanted to create a vast soundscape that’s not exactly comfortable, but has a stillness and acceptance,” Pardon explains.

It's well worth revisiting Oskar Wrangö's stunning video for first single 'Enter The Void'.

PLEASE NOTE: In keeping with the album’s themes, the video contains scenes some viewers may find disturbing.

The Abyss is available on limited edition ‘Pool Party’ splatter vinyl LP (350 copies), black vinyl LP, limited CD (500 copies) and digital - listen/buy
